8. Documentation quality and validation

The Documentation Quality and Validation project explains the problem and my approach. This chapter describes the checks behind it, while the Writing collection shows selected documentation improvements.

8.1 Making quality issues actionable

My quality work covers structured content, transformed output, web rendering, links, media, and editorial conventions. I turn defects into clear observations that another writer or engineer can reproduce and investigate.

I created and maintained trackers for broken images, broken links across releases, rendering defects, nested and merged tables, migration discrepancies, and recurring peer-review lessons. Each gives the team a practical starting point for investigation or improvement.

8.2 Migration and rendered output checks

I participated in a team comparison of Pulse-dev and live SOTI XSight content. We examined table titles, inline images, image sizes, anchors, step formatting, notes, and code presentation, and recorded issues in an authoring-tool feedback workbook.

My migration investigations also include content notes that did not appear in the expected block model, malformed rendered tables, table titles and line breaks, and preservation of image scale. Keeping the exact symptoms matters because “formatting problem” alone does not supply enough information for another person to reproduce a defect.

8.3 Editorial judgement and review practice

I refine review guidance by comparing automated suggestions with my final edits, including UI terminology, grammar, and direct topic openings. I retain the reason for each change so the lesson can inform future reviews. A generalized peer-review skill is available to adapt.

I also investigated system-requirements feedback and combined help best practices. In one storage-space example, wording ranged from 300 MB to unlimited space; I worked to make that explanation more actionable for readers.

8.4 Quality checks and follow-through

One cross-version quality inventory documented 23 observations across 21 affected topics. Another identified 31 image-link failures across 22 topics and 13 distinct image URLs. These inventories helped turn scattered output problems into specific items for investigation.

My broader help review covered 474 area/page entries across 466 distinct file paths and identified 45 candidates for conversion into clearer task guidance. I also checked the availability of 219 help URLs. These inventories supported scoping and follow-up alongside individual writing improvements.

My quality work combines inventories, review activity, and defect reporting. The writing examples connect selected findings to visible source changes and validation context.
